Take time for R & R

In today's quest to live at your full potential, accomplish all that is expected of you and even just get by day to day, it is easy to let the slower paced and non-urgent things sink to the bottom of your to-do list.  Rest and relaxation don't even make it to the list most days.  But if we never take that time, what's it all for?  Don't get caught up in a frenzy of busy activities and let them run your life.  Give yourself a "time-out" once in a while.

According to the Mayo Clinic;

"Practicing relaxation techniques can reduce stress symptoms by:
  • Slowing your heart rate
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Slowing your breathing rate
  • Reducing activity of stress hormones (that can result in weight gain)
  • Increasing blood flow to major muscles
  • Reducing muscle tension and chronic pain
  • Improving concentration and mood
  • Lowering fatigue
  • Reducing anger and frustration
  • Boosting confidence to handle problems
To get the most benefit, use relaxation techniques along with other positive coping methods, such as thinking positively, finding humor, problem-solving, managing time, exercising, getting enough sleep, and reaching out to supportive family and friends."

This isn't just a good idea, it's proven by doctors!  Consider this article a prescription to go for a walk in nature or bath a bubble bath.  Slow down and enjoy life and you'll have a longer, healthier, more enjoyable one.  Check out a 30 second video of my red rock Utah relaxation moment.  And have a peaceful day!
